Pakistani javelin thrower Arshad Nadeem won the gold medal at the Asian Athletics Championship with a final throw of 86.40 meters, according to national media reports on Saturday.
According to details, in the Asian Athletics Championship ongoing in January in Korea, in the javelin throw final, Arshad Nadeem threw 75.64 meters in his first attempt, 76.80 meters in the second, and 85.57 meters in the third.
The national athlete threw 83.99 meters in the fourth throw, 83.44 meters in the fifth, and 86.40 meters in the final throw. Arshad Nadeem has now become the Asian champion after being the Olympic champion. India’s Sachin Yadav came in second.
In the final of the Asian Athletics Championship, Pakistan’s Yasir Sultan threw 70.53 meters on his first attempt. His second throw measured 75.39 meters, while in his third attempt, Yasir Sultan threw 75.50 meters.

This is Pakistan’s first gold medal in the history of Asian Athletics since 1973. Pakistan last won a gold medal in this event in 1973.
In the competitions held in the Philippines in 1973, Pakistan won gold in javelin throw, with Muhammad Younis winning the gold and Allah Ditta winning the gold medal in javelin throw. In the Asian Athletics Championship, Arshad Nadeem is the first Pakistani in over 50 years to win a gold medal.

It is worth noting that Pakistan’s javelin thrower Arshad Nadeem delivered an outstanding performance in the 2024 Paris Olympics, setting a new Olympic record with a throw of 92.97 meters and securing an Olympic gold medal for Pakistan after 40 years.
Earlier, in the 2022 Commonwealth Games, Arshad Nadeem had also won a gold medal with a throw of 90.18 meters, which was a new Commonwealth Games record. His achievements have not only made Pakistan proud but have also strengthened the country’s presence in the sport of javelin throw at the global level.
