Traffic around Karachi’s Jam Sadiq Bridge has been significantly affected due to ongoing construction activities on the Malir Expressway, leading to considerable inconvenience for daily commuters.
The Malir Expressway—officially named Shahrah-e-Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto—is a 39-kilometer expressway currently under construction. It stretches from the KPT Interchange to the Karachi-Hyderabad Motorway near Kathore, running alongside the Malir River.
According to traffic authorities, both lanes of the bridge have been temporarily closed to allow for the installation of support pillars. This closure is expected to remain in effect until 7:00 PM.
To manage the situation, alternative traffic routes have been established. Vehicles approaching from Hino Chowrangi are being redirected toward the Korangi River route, while those traveling from Godam Chowrangi are being diverted to the nearby crossing.
Motorists are advised to comply with traffic police instructions and make use of designated detours to avoid extended delays.
