The Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) on Wednesday issued a new advisory to pilots, warning of increased bird activity near airports due to the ongoing monsoon season.
According to a Notice to Airmen (NOTAM), a significant number of birds have been observed at altitudes below 3,000 feet around various airfields, posing a potential threat to aircraft operations.
Pilots have been advised to exercise maximum caution during takeoff and landing procedures.
Airport sources disclosed that authorities are considering a daily three-hour closure of Lahore’s Allama Iqbal International Airport (AIIA) from July 1 to September 15, 2025, to minimize the risk of bird strikes.
These precautionary steps are being taken to ensure the safety and security of passengers and aircraft. Officials added that a separate NOTAM will soon be issued to formally notify the temporary closure schedule.
