In a heartening display of cross-border sportsmanship, a Pakistani-Indian duo has advanced to the semifinals of the ITF Junior Tennis Tournament currently underway in Nigeria.
The team, consisting of Pakistan’s Soha Ali and India’s Sudhak Kaur, secured their spot in the girls’ doubles semifinal after a solid victory in the quarterfinals.
The duo defeated Nigeria’s Fego Aiyetoma and Tolu Vyashi* in straight sets, winning with a score of 6-3, 6-4.
Their impressive performance not only highlights individual talent but also serves as a powerful symbol of sports uniting nations despite political tensions. The pair will now compete for a place in the final as they aim to bring home international recognition for both countries.
The ITF Junior Tennis Tournament, officially known as the ITF World Tennis Tour Juniors, is the premier global competition for tennis players aged 18 and under, organized by the International Tennis Federation.
Established in 1977, the circuit has grown from just nine tournaments to nearly 1,000 events held annually across 130 countries. The tour is structured into six levels—J500, J300, J200, J100, J60, and J30—allowing young players to compete internationally, gain valuable experience, and earn world ranking points.
