The Federation of Western Indian Sunni Employees (FWICE) and the All India Sunni Workers Association (AICWA) have strongly objected to the casting of Pakistani actress Haniya Aamir in the upcoming film Sardar Ji 3, which stars Indian singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh in the lead role.
Both the organizations have announced a complete boycott of Dosanjh and the film’s producers and vowed to block the film’s future release in India.
Although Sardar Ji 3 is currently scheduled for overseas release only, producer Gunbir Singh Sidhu clarified that the film was completed before the recent Indo-Pak tensions.
Despite this clarification, the controversy has intensified, with AICWA accusing Dosanjh of “working with terrorists” while FWICE terming the casting as “treason against the nation” and “promoting an anti-India narrative”.
In its statement, AICWA strongly criticized Hania Aamir’s involvement in the Pahalgam attack, which it called a “Pakistani-sponsored attack” — however, Pakistan has denied the allegation and demanded proof, to which the Indian government has yet to provide any evidence.
AICWA says Dosanjh’s decision is an insult to national sentiments and a desecration of the sacrifices of Indian soldiers. Both organizations have called on the Indian film industry to end all professional ties with Diljit Dosanjh. They say Dosanjh’s decision raises serious questions about his loyalty and the reputation of Indian cinema.
The film is scheduled for release on 27 June 2025, with international distribution plans that exclude Indian theatres due to political tensions between India and Pakistan.
