Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif received a telephone call on Friday from United States Secretary of State Marco Rubio which encompassed a broad range of regional and international developments.
According to a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office, Prime Minister Shehbaz emphasized that the ongoing Iran-Israel crisis must be addressed through dialogue and diplomacy. He reiterated Pakistan’s firm commitment to contributing constructively to all peace initiatives, noting that the escalating situation presents serious challenges not only to regional stability but to global security as well.
The Prime Minister extended his best wishes to US President Donald Trump and commended his leadership. He also acknowledged Secretary Rubio’s diplomatic efforts, particularly his role in supporting the ceasefire arrangement between Pakistan and India.

Referring to President Trump’s recent positive remarks about Pakistan, Prime Minister Shehbaz described them as encouraging indicators for long-term peace in South Asia. He underscored that lasting stability in the region depends on sustained and meaningful engagement between Pakistan and India.
In this regard, he reaffirmed Pakistan’s readiness to enter into comprehensive dialogue with India, addressing all outstanding matters, including Jammu and Kashmir, the Indus Waters Treaty, trade relations, and counterterrorism cooperation.

The Middle East situation was also a prominent topic in the discussion. The Prime Minister reiterated that peaceful dialogue and diplomatic channels remain the only effective means to resolve tensions. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s willingness to assist in de-escalation efforts wherever possible.
